Ōrongomai

Inspired by another one of Margaret Mahy's books, The Great White Man Eating Shark, we have been learning all about sharks in Ōrongomai. The students have been busy writing news reports about Caramel Cove, researching different species of sharks and creating their sharks in a variety of ways. You may have seen some of their finished work posted on Class Dojo.  This particular group of students worked together to plan and sculpt a life-size  megamouth shark  out of sand in the sandpit.  The megamouth shark is a species of deepwater shark. It is rarely seen by humans. Since its discovery in 1976, few megamouth sharks have been seen, with fewer than 100 specimens being observed or caught. The megamouth shark can grow up to 5.5 metres long.  Ka pai to all of the students who collaborated to sculpt this impressive creature! 

In Ōrongomai we have been practising basic gymnastics shapes and working on rolls, handstands and cartwheels. The children have had a great time challenging themselves and trying new skills!
