The Hawk and the Squirrel by Mrs Kelly's writers

The Hawk and the Squirrel
It is Autumn in the forest. Leaves are twirling like ballerinas as they drift down to the ground. Suddenly a squirrel pops out of the leaves and furiously scans the ground for nuts lying quietly on the crumpled leaves. A dangerous hawk glares over at the fearless squirrel.Suddenly the squirrel sees the huge hawk and he trampolines off the swaying branches of towering tall totara trees and leaps right onto the hard ground ready for the tremendous chase. The squirrel springs right onto the nearest tree he can find, jumping from branch to branch, tree to tree, until he nervously jumps into a nest to hide. The squirrel waits anxiously as the hawk swoops down beside the nest and smashes the nest to pieces. Squirrel falls as fast as a racing car down to the patched ground. The chase goes on until the squirrel furiously leaps right on to the dark chocolate coloured trunk of the tree and hides in the nearest hole he can find. The hawk finally gives up and flies away. The squirrel tentatively peeks out of the hole to see if he has gone. The chase is over. The forest is calm again and the tired squirrel is safe.

Hawk and Squirrel
It was Autumn and the leaves started to turn brown, red and yellow and they fell like they had been shot in the war. As the matted leaves fell, the sun glistened through the trees and the blue sky shone down. A lonely squirrel hunted for nuts on the forest carpet. He started to leap and in no time he was at the top of the tree. Soon his time was up because a ferocious hawk spied the tiny squirrel leaping from tree to tree. The hawk took a closer look and leaped up and started to soar through the sky to catch the squirrel. The horrified squirrel sprang down the steep sloped tree, while the fierce hawk dodged the twisted branches. The squirrel continued to scamper to a nest, but the hawk ferociously destroyed the nest and the squirrel thumped down to the hard ground. All of a sudden the squirrel got up and ran for his life again. He sprinted for metres until he found a snuggly comfy hole in an old oak tree. The squirrel hid. The hawk tried to get in and destroy the hiding place but he couldn’t, so he disappointedly gave up. The squirrel was finally safe again.

The Hawk and the Squirrel
It was a sunny autumn day in the forest. The trees towered high as skyscrapers, leaves were silently gliding to the ground. Suddenly a squirrel popped out of the leaves on the ground. He frantically raced around looking for nuts on the firm forest floor and scampered up a tree to look for more nuts. He slowly nibbled on the nuts he had found but a hawk saw him greedily eating and swooped down to take a closer look. The squirrel spotted the hawk and scurried away with the hawk close behind. In a panic, the squirrel darted up a tree and into a nest but the hawk flew up and ripped the nest to shreds with his hooked beak. With the hawk so close, the squirrel couldn’t see where he was going. WHOOMP! The nest gave way beneath him and he tumbled to a branch. He raced through the towering oak trees like the Flash. He ran up a totara tree just to come down again and squeezed through a tiny hole. The hawk was determined to get in but he wasn’t able so he finally flew away. The forest was safe again.
